From a Shack visitor who’s wondering about a rather intriguing movie…
“Hi, For the author or anyone else who may read this and who are experts on fantasy pre-historic films, maybe could answer my question.
When I was a kid, I remember watching a fantasy pre-historic film, I remember only one scene from it and also it had no dialogue, could be made by Italian director, under US production.
Anyways, what I remember from that scene was that the lead cavemen of the tribe, for some reason had the women lined up, all in their fur bikini outfit (maybe to chose his “wife” or who to have sex with), he then checked (peeking under the bottom part of their fur bikini) each of the women’s bottom part.
Does anyone know this film? It’s just that this scene has been stuck in my memory for so long. Movies are my passion!
I’m not expecting the answer anytime soon, but if someone or the author of this review knows the answer!”
Does this sound familiar to anybody?
EDIT:
A funny clip from the movie…good memories!
Caveman! A hilarious film.
I was guessing “Caveman” with Ringo Starr, Avery Schreiber, Shelley Long, Dennis Quaid and Barbarba Bach. I saw it not long ago on one of the DISH movie channels. Not all that great of a film; I gave it 5/10 stars. Still has some funny moments, especially with Jack Gilford.
I have that movie, will watch it and let you know!
Was it that recent? I remember seeing this movie at the theater with my dad…He was laughing his ass off the whole time but I think most of the jokes kind of went over my tender under-aged head 🙂
No, not recent. Early 80’s. Shelly Long gave up her role on Cheers for this sort of thing…
Lately, there’s been a rash of new movie channels that focus on classic films from the 60’s, 70’s, and 80’s. They even ran a voodoo monster movie (featuring “Touch” Connors–poor ol’ Mike–as the “hero”) and a voodoo zombie nazi movie (featuring John Carradine as the villain) not long ago. Both were on the MGM channel, I believe…
I watched “Caveman” starring Ringo, Shelly Long, and Dennis Quaid tonight. Not a lot of dialog, but it was interesting to see how they communicated. The special effects were camp city, but chuckle-able. I’ll bet after a few beers, this movie would be golden.
Caveman was a surprise box office hit back in the early 1980s. I saw it twice at the movies. In fact it kept getting held over here in town as it was raking in the money, then had a long run on cable. The excellent (not to mention hilarious) stop motion was by old pro David Allen. In fact, one FX tech that worked on it would have done The Thing not soon after, but he was seriously injured in a car crash and Rob Bottin took over. If you know what Pookah and Zug Zug mean, then you know the film.
Added fun clip from the movie…the invention of music. Man, does this bring back some great memories of going to the movies with my dad…
I remember seeing this movie years ago. Initially not knowing what it was, I only rented it because Ringo Starr was in it. I was pleasantly surprised.
