A decent flick with an interesting plot twist: What if you had to be absolutely silent to survive? Despite a few plot holes (big ones), A Quiet Place is a fun 90 minutes or so with plenty of slimy monsters to keep you entertained.

Sean steps in again with a detailed dissection of the latest animated Godzilla feature…No stone is left unturned in this one…
Godzilla – City on the Edge of Battle
The disdain Sean feels for the newest Star Wars movie is so great that it compelled him to submit a superb rant. Has the Star Wars money train reached the end of the track? Maybe so…
Solo: A Star Wars Story Rant from Sean
Dug up this old Made-For-TV during one of my late night insomnia fuelled surfing sessions. Oddly enough, I had seen this before way back in the VHS days. Well, enough about me…enjoy this really, really bad movie about killer…cats. Yep.
Strays (1991)
Just to reassure everybody that I’m alive and well, I wanted to post some quick thoughts about Baby Driver. I assume I’m the last person on the planet to see this movie, but just in case I’m wrong, there are spoilers galore in this brief write up…

The Last Jedi
I have to admit, I lost interest (and faith) in any and all future Star Wars movies after…oh, what was the one before Rogue One?…see? How sad is that? Thankfully, Sean steps in (again!) to drop some knowledge and a bit more grumpiness to the Shack!

Sean reports that Netflix is at it again! In league with Arch Super Villain J.J. Abrams it has released a movie that’s just like an old plastic model kit. They kindly open the box, dump the pieces over our head and say, “Here, you build it.” What fun!
The Cloverfield Paradox (2018)

Secret Guest Reviewer Grumpy McFaultfinder examines Netflix’s animated production: Godzilla: Planet of the Monsters. A promising idea that quickly falls flat under the cold reality of the reviewer’s merciless eye.
In his words, “Makes my morning commute on a cold, rainy Monday filled with subway delays seem enjoyable by comparison.”
Enjoy!

Trying to cash in on the earlier success of the “Willard” film, Frogs is a limp attempt at an eco-thriller that could have been much better given the premise.
Oh, and it stars lots of frogs.
Frogs (1972)
Sean and I vent our spleens and our thoughts on the recent slick release Arrival
Here’s a little gem from the late 70s that scared the crap out of me as a kid. Ahhh, they don’t make them like this anymore, and for a good reason.
A devil cult creates a little of, you guessed it, “devil dogs” that terrorize randomly chosen families…and then it gets really […]
A Spidey-tastic TV movie from the glorious 1970’s! Stitched together from a couple of never-released post-cancellation “Spider-Man” episodes, for better or worse, this is still pretty fun, and brings back some great memories from my childhood.
Spider-Man: The Dragon’s Challenge (1979)
Just did a quick link exchange with Daniel and Paul over at “No Majesty” film reviews. A lot of well thought out and nuanced reviews…kind of the opposite of here…just kidding. Anyway, be sure to pop over and take a look!
No Majesty – film reviews and more!
Dennis and Sean give their first impressions of the latest blockbuster…
Skull Island: a slightly grumpy review
Guest reviewer Karl Hoegle braves this Larry Buchanan “masterpiece” about the end of the world, mutants, booze, rednecks, and the list goes on. I salute you, brave Karl, for actually getting through this one!
In the Year 2889 (1967)
Sean puts on his philosopher’s hat and ponders the age old question: Is Darth Vader really just a whiny loser? Is he really to blame for being such an asshole? Furthermore, he inspects the many flaws in The Phantom Menace and pulls no punches when placing the blame directly where it belongs…enjoy!

Just got a heads up on some really cool “ABC’s of Death” t-shirts from Amorphia Apparel
but using monsters and villains from all types of pop-culture references. Just in time for Christmas too!
For example:

Shin Godzilla (2016)
Sean Ledden comes up again with a great capsule review of a movie that I’m dying to see as soon as it gets to the theaters way up here. The newest incarnation of our green friend but with a decidedly modern perspective. Enjoy!
The Star Wars Holiday Special (1978)
Feel free to spend the evening with Chewbacca’s family: Malla, Itchy, and his son, Lumpy. This Star Wars musical variety show is totally, totally insane…which makes it a perfect candidate for a detailed review by our Monster Shack staff. I linked to the full show in the review […]
Top 5 Incompetent Invasions
They’rrrrrrrrrrre here!
Aliens are invading!…head for the hills! Run for your lives!
But, maybe not in this case. Sean provides 5 great examples of alien invasions that didn’t cut the mustard. Due to incompetence, poor planning, or just being plain stupid, these creatures met more than their match after […]
