Have you seen this movie?

When I was living with my dad in Mpls back in the early 90’s we used to rent crappy videos from the local drugstore. (Yes, renting VHS tapes…man do I feel old). Anyway, I remember we came across this ‘bottom rack’ video that had a really murky cover and I think the title was “Things”. It was totally, totally, totally bizarre and for the life of me and just can’t seem to find it. It’s almost like I dreamed the whole thing, but I didn’t because my dad remembers it too.

The basic set up is a group of friends are trapped in a cabin where a bunch of aliens try to get in. Here are a few scenes I remember:

1) A guy gets his hand bit off so his buddy cauterizes the wound with a roll of burning paper towels while saying “We learned how to do this at Scout camp.”

2) A guy getting eating by monsters shouting his last words: “HELP! I being devoured by creatures without souls!”

3) Some unfortunate chap being tied down and having his (infected?) hand cut off with a big paper cutter.

As you can tell from the above, I’d love to find it again and feature it here on the site. I searched on IMDB for “Things” and this just might be it:

Things

Has anybody seen this or can get ahold of it? It appears to be quite rare, but you HAVE to see this.

Well, if that IS the movie, (and I don’t think I’ve ever seen it) then they do have an actual ‘official’ website: http://www.things1989.com, where you can order the dvd. Their site is a little primitive, but it does have a preview link that sends you to youtube, so you can check your memory and make sure you’re thinking of this particular movie. I just watched the preview, and all I can say is….wow.

  • Excellent! Guess I have to order it now!

To save people some trouble here’s the link to the trailer:

Amber Lynn the porn star is in this! I guess she was trying to go legit, although by this films description, it wasn’t much of a step up.

  • You’re right, Amber Lynn was in this one as some sort of newsreporter. Like Oneeye said, their DVD website is pretty primative, but if this was a rip-off, why on Earth would anybody choose _this_ type of product? I’m still waiting a little bit though. Anybody else try to order this?
