New times

I guess you’ve noticed that there hasn’t been a heck of a lot of activity here lately.

I have very little time (which can be fixed, sort of) and I’m a bit burned out, to be honest. I started this goofy site on a whim nearly 5 years ago with a review of Plan 9 and a lot of plans for the future. Since then, I’ve fiddled and faddled with the site until its current evolved (mutated?) state, and to be honest, I’m pretty happy with how things have turned out: I like WordPress, I like the ease of commenting directly on a review, and I think the layout looks pretty cool.

Now that I’m done patting myself on the back, I’ve finally had to admit that I just don’t have the time to write the familiar long, full-length film deconstructive reviews that I had before. It’s really nothing more than that; but what to do next?

1) Continue to post reviews at a snail’s pace, i.e., one every few months.

2) Change the review format to be more fluid with sort of a “wrap up” feel rather than the play-by-play type of review I’ve had until now.

Obviously I have to go with number 2 or else nothing will ever get done around here. So, to all the 3 people in the world that are actually reading this (Hi Sean, Karl, and HBrennon 🙂 ) I going to try and post more often but with shorter reviews; there just is no other way at this point because of real-life time pressures.

Soooo….changing subjects

How about some quick thoughts I had the other night:

I have tons of MST3K episodes archived away and I have to say that the show really Jumped the Shark when Trace quit. Mike’s replacement of Joel was endurable after I got used to him, but the “new” Crow was just too much. Sorry Bill, you ARE funny, but I’m an old, crabby fart who likes the “old” shows much better than the later, gasping for breath seasons.

Have you seen “Sector 9” yet? Looks really freakin’ cool.

Regarding “Alien vs Predator”…cmon, we all know that an Alien would kick a Predator’s ass hands down.

Forgive me as I geek out here: I’m finally almost done with my “little” side project: A wikipedia for my favorite game: Civilization 4. If you like the game, check out the wiki and let me know what you think: Civ Wiki

I just got back from a 2 week vacation in Cypress with my family. Lots of sun and beer. Oh, and I pierced my nose on a whim. Is this the start of a mid-life crisis? (At least it wasn’t a Prince Albert)

I’ve spent a grand total of 5 minutes on Facebook before I got bored and started hating it.

I’ve never used Twitter and I never will.

OK, thanks for listening to me ramble. Here’s looking forward to a fun fall season!

Say it ain’t so, Dennis! I love Bill’s Crow and the subtle genius that is Mike Nelson! ( I love the Trace and Joel as well, but the show really grabbed my attention in mid season 5) I’d like to crank out a few more reviews and hopefully become somewhat readable, I really enjoyed the two I have done so far. Sorry to hear about the nose thing, perhaps it will heal over someday. Going to see “Pandorum” tomorrow, I have today and tomorrow off because of the G-20 summit here in Pittsburgh.
