What Were They Thinking?…Killdozer (1974)

I’m trying to fill in the gaps between the longer reviews with little tidbits of funny stuff I find on YouTube. Now, I’m not big fan of simply posting links, and not everybody wants to sit and watch an entire YouTube video, BUT, it’s better than nothing and I promise to only link to videos that are worth it, in the Monster Shack sort of way…

So I thought I’d kick it off with a wonderful movie from the 70’s called “Killdozer”. Yes, you read that correctly. A group of construction workers are trapped on an island with a bulldozer that “comes to life” and starts killing people after hitting a meteorite. Again, you read that correctly. It’s only 76 minutes long, but the video quality is really quite nice and it IS a hilarious movie. Check it out 🙂

  • One of my favorite TV movies from the 70’s! Great choice!

I remember this stinker from the drive in days of my sordid youth! I remembered thinking that this must have been a cheapie to film, as the bad guy was paid in diesel.

Watching this reminded me of a drive in movie called “The Car”, With James Brolin as the lead. This car was possessed by a demon, and tried killing everyone. It was impervious to most attacks, and couldn’t go on hallowed ground, like cemeteries. Does anyone remember it? I’ll check… Yes! I have it in my collection. Must remember to peruse it more often. Might be worth reviewing…

  • I remember vaguely a movie about a possessed car…maybe that was it. I saw it way back in 1975(?) It was part of a double-bill along with “Demon Dog: Hound from Hell!”

    ha ha 🙂

  • It’s not just the car. The whole thing reminds me of MAXIMUM OVERDRIVE.

  • Please, don’t remind ME of Maximum Overdrive 🙂

I remember seeing the car! And it was with a sense of bemusement, even back then. I also remember hearing about Killdozer, but I gave it a miss. That was back before I acquired the taste for a certain kind of very ripe cheese.

  • @Sean: Oh, this film is pretty rich…Just imagine the cajones required to pitch the film:

OK, see, an asteroid falls out of the sky…see?…and a then a blue light possesses a, get this, bulldozer!

  • Sean

No, I can’t imagine the cajones! Of course, I was one of the Great Unwashed who scoffed at a “Killdozer” when it made it’s TV debut. Mea culpa!

Scoffing??? At 20 tons of rolling death coming at you at 0.5 mph?!

  • Sean

Sounds terrifying – IF, you’ve just had a hernia operation and can only shamble at 0.4 mph.
