Where to find crappy movies

Somebody wrote me and asked where they could buy a particular movie, so I thought I’d tell you where I get a lot of these movies:

#1) E-bay. You can find almost anything on Ebay. Since I live overseas I buy from ebay.co.uk. Although I can’t always find exactly what I want, I can usually find something worthwhile for reviewing.

#2) Amazon. Duh. Although the hard-to-find stuff is usually a private seller. I’ve never tried to buy too much from Amazon because they are pretty main stream so I can buy it cheaper from Play.com (#3 below).

#3) Play.com: If you’re in Europe, Play.com offers free shipping. Ka-ching! And they have tons of sales, box sets, etc. Good stuff.

#4) Here’s a couple of good sites for free public domain movies:

Movies Found Online A collection of links to lots of movies on the net. Lot’s of interesting documentaries as well.

Internet Archives Lots of newsreels, public domain films, and other weird stuff.

Forgotten Flicks Tons of really cheesy crap that you can download as .avi if you want.

(Thanks to the people that sent me the links, and keep them coming!)

#5) There’s also the Rhino releases of the MST3K DVD’s for tons of classic crap.

Anybody else have any good sources?

Two places I like to check are Fearnet:http://www.fearnet.com/movies/index.html
    and Hulu:http://www.hulu.com/

Fearnet obviously is straight horror movies, and they rotate the selections out at a fairly decent rate. They do seem to have a number of glitches in playback, although personally, I’ve never been affected. And it’s free.
Hulu has stuff from every genre and both tv shows and movies, and they’re also free. They’re selections used to suck pretty hard, and didn’t change much, but lately it’s been great, with new stuff being added daily. And the best thing is, they’re on top of some of the new shows out there, as well as adding in stuff I haven’t seen in years, like Dark Shadows, the original Outer Limits, and hell, even Voltron!

  • Hulu streams only to the US…it wouldn’t let me see anything over here…meh!

Well, that’s about stupid. >< what happened to the WORLD WIDE web? sorry man.

  • The world “wide” web has been trumped by the “narrow” American business mind.

I’ll keep my eye out for more box sets.
